THE WAVES
Playa Avellanas in Costa Rica offers consistent surf conditions for all levels, with easy waves for beginners and challenging swells for advanced surfers. Nearby, five additional breaks—La Purruja, El Parqueo, El Palo, El Estero de Avellanas, and Little Hawaii—cater to intermediate and advanced surfers. The camp is also close to world-class spots like Playa Negra, Langosta, and Playa Grande.
With warm, year-round water temperatures of 27°C and stunning white sandy beaches surrounded by mangroves, Playa Avellanas is a surfer's paradise. Rapture Camp Costa Rica delivers an exceptional surfing experience for all.
LEVEL ONE BEGINNER SURF COURSE
The beginner module is ideal for those new to surfing or those who haven’t surfed in a while. It’s designed to help you build skills at your own pace, with our instructors ensuring you catch plenty of waves and enjoy the experience.
Lessons are available from Mondays to Saturdays, with instruction tailored to your progress. With the guidance of our experienced instructors, you could be riding green waves within a few days.

INTERMEDIATE SURF COURSE

FOR ADVANCED SURFERS
Surf guiding is included in the room price and is available at no extra cost for experienced surfers seeking to explore world-class breaks around our surf camp.
This service is for surfers who can surf independently but want local knowledge of where to surf in Costa Rica.
Our skilled surf guides will lead you to the best spots for your ability and provide information on currents, rips, and potential hazards.
Participants should be advanced surfers with the ability to:

HOW TO GET THERE
To reach Rapture Costa Rica, there are several convenient options:

Airport Pickup: Rapture Costa Rica offers pickup from Liberia International Airport for up to 4 people in a new, safe, and comfortable 4×4 vehicle.

Tamarindo Bus Stop Pickup: Alternatively, pickup can be arranged from the Tamarindo bus stop in a similar 4×4 vehicle.
All transfers can be booked online but must be paid in cash directly at the surf camp.
The easiest way to arrive is by flying into Liberia International Airport, which is approximately a 1.5-hour drive from the camp. If coming from San José, it’s about a five-hour drive.
From Liberia:
By Public Bus: Direct buses are available, taking around 2.5 hours. Tickets can be purchased at the bus station in Liberia, located in the town centre.
By Shuttle Bus: This option offers more comfort than public buses but at a slightly higher cost. Shuttles can be booked in advance and often include pickup from your hotel.
If Renting a Car: The camp is located a short drive from the main road. From the main road, turn left towards Vida Verde. Follow the signs to Rapture. The camp is situated across from Cabinas Las Olas and just before the turn to Lola’s. While a 4×4 vehicle is not essential, a car with high clearance is recommended. The dirt road is passable with a sedan or compact car, even during the rainy season—just drive slowly and stay in low gear.
