A CLOSER LOOK AT THE BOAT

The Naga Laut provides comfortable accommodation with four two-bed cabins and one large four-bed cabin, all fitted with multiple power sockets for charging laptops, phones, and cameras. Launched in late '99, the Naga Laut has been continually upgraded for a comfortable and unique experience.

For efficient access to the surf and various activities, the Naga Laut features two tenders: a 5.5m Stacer aluminium speedboat with a Yamaha 85 hp, and a smaller Polycraft with a 15 hp engine. These tenders ensure quick transport to the waves, as well as easy trips for shore excursions and fishing.

THE WAVES

The Mentawai Islands are a premier surfing destination, offering classic waves in crystal-clear, warm waters. The best way to explore the numerous breaks and avoid pesky mosquitoes is by boat, which provides the freedom and mobility needed to surf this region’s world-class spots. With hundreds of reef and beach breaks, the Mentawai Islands are renowned for their consistent, high-quality waves that cater to all levels of surfers, making it most wave rich region in the world.

Swells from the South Indian Ocean keep the islands pumping from February through November, with waves ranging from 3 to 15 feet, and occasionally even bigger. Cyclone swells continue to bring surf throughout the rest of the year. The calm winds ensure that these swells are always well-formed and of top quality. Some highlights include: Lances Left, HTs, Bank Vaults, Burgerworld, Telescopes and many more world class breaks.

HOW TO GET THERE

Mentawai Blue offers convenient transfers for guests, picking them up from Padang Airport and returning them at the end of their trip. The Mentawai Islands are situated off the coast of West Sumatra, Indonesia, with Padang being the nearest major city.

To reach Padang (PDG), travelers can choose from various airlines, both domestic and international. For international flights, Jakarta (CGK) is the most connected hub, with 27 daily direct flights to Padang operated by airlines such as Garuda, Citylink, Batik Air, Super Air Jet, and Air Asia. Other options include flying from Kuala Lumpur (KUL) with Air Asia, or from Bali (DPS) with Lion Air, Citilink, Batik Air, or Garuda. Note that flights from Bali typically require a connection in Jakarta, which may incur additional costs, especially for surfboards, as airlines often charge per board, per flight.

For travelers coming from Kuala Lumpur, Visa On Arrival (VOA) is available upon arrival in Padang.
